Helen Newboles, a beloved matriarch, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Symphony Applewood in Woodhaven, Michigan. Born on January 23, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, she lived a life centered on family, quiet diligence, and deep community ties.
Helen worked for many years as a bookkeeper, retiring with a reputation for precision and steady commitment. Her family remained the heart of her world. She is survived by her children, Sandra (John) Wodka and Bruce (Jan) Newboles; her grandchildren, Robert “Robbie” (Reanna), Luke, and Patrick; and her two great-grandsons, Ryder and Rorey, who brought her special joy in her later years. She was also accompanied throughout by her grand-dog, Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her parents, John and Elsie (Stoppel) Albu, and her siblings.
Active and engaged well into her later life, Helen was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she devoted many years to the Church Food Distribution Program. She also participated enthusiastically in the Brownstown Seniors and the Senior Olympics, embracing community life with characteristic energy. She found simple, steady pleasure in daily routines, including her cherished morning visits for a Bob Evans Sausage Biscuit.
Helen will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her steadfast love for her family, and the quiet dedication she showed to her church and community. Her legacy of kindness and service remains with all who knew her.
