Helen Jeanette Laton Russell

Helen Jeanette Laton Russell, 92, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Born on December 4, 1933, in Stanly County, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Paul Watkins Laton and Madeline Almond Laton. She spent her career with Liggett Myers Tobacco Company before retiring. A longtime member of Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church in Durham, she found great joy in baking, cooking, and visiting the beach. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Graham McDonald Russell, Sr., her brother, Paul W. Laton, Jr., and her parents.

She is survived by her sons, Graham M. Russell, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Greensboro, and Greg Russell and wife Cheryl of Asheboro; her sister, Phyllis Forrest and husband Johnny of Norwood; grandchildren Amber Isley and husband Chase, Grant Russell and wife Kaylie, Laton Russell and wife Morgan, Ashton Russell and wife Mallory, Preston Russell and wife Madison, and Allyson Russell; step-grandchild Marsha Prevette; great-grandchildren Gray Russell, Kenzie Russell, Brody Isley, Harlow Isley, Declan Russell, and Beckett Russell; and step great-grandchildren Jessy Gray and Trevor Gray.
