Helen Moeser ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Fry & Prickett Funeral Home - Carthage on Mar. 14, 2026.Helen June Kuster Moeser, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Hospice House in West End.Helen was born on March 21, 1938, in Springfield, IL, to the late John Charles and Florence Wood Kuster.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Pinehurst United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Rd., Pinehurst, and interment will be in the church Memorial Garden following the service.Helen is survived by her four children, Laura Kramer (Scott), and David Charles Moeser (Lola), both of Columbus, Ohio, Daniel John Moeser of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and Matthew James Moeser (Ellen Carter) of Durham, NC; four grandchildren, William Kramer of Columbus, Ohio, Allie Kramer of Charlotte, NC, Stephanie Kramer of Cincinatti, Ohio, and Reese Moeser of Upper Arlington, Ohio.In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles Oscar Moeser, and her sister, Nita Jane Kuster Rossman of Baton Rouge, LA.Helen was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School in June 1956 and received a Bachelor of Arts with high honors in psychology from the University of Cincinnati on June 5, 1959. While at the University, Helen was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Psi Chi psychology honorary, Pi Delta Epsilon journalism honorary, Phi Beta Kappa, and a staff member of the U.C. News Record newspaper.Helen married her college sweetheart, Charles Oscar Moeser, on September 5, 1959, at Walnut Hills Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, OH. She began her career in the Personnel Department of the Kroger Company headquarters in Cincinnati. After Chuck's graduation in June 1960, they moved to Flint, MI. Helen worked in the office of the Mott Foundation Adult High School and later as a reporter for The Flint Journal.In January 1965, they moved to Zanesville, OH. She was active in St. John Lutheran Church and in Boy and Girl Scout work. She was a member of the West Muskingum Board of Education for four years. Helen worked briefly as the Public Relations Director for the Heart of Ohio Girl Scout Council before moving to Seven Lakes, NC, in June 1985.Later, Chuck and Helen moved to Pinehurst. She served as Parish Secretary and Administrative Assistant for 16 years at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Southern Pines, retiring in June 2002.In 2010, she joined Pinehurst United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the Congregation Council, chair of the Congregational Care Team, Altar Guild, Friendship Circle, Lay Reader, and Chocolate Festival Committee. Her community activities in the Sandhills included serving as a board member for MANNA! for six years, the Sandhills Food Bank Advisory Council, volunteering for the Coalition for Human Care, Inc., and as an AAUW member.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pinehurst United Methodist Church or any local charity, such as Moore Free Clinic, Habitat for Humanity, Pinehurst United Methodist Church, and Family Promise.Online condolences can be made at PinesFunerals.com.Powell Funeral Homes is serving the Moeser family.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
