Helen Creech

Helen Creech passed away on March 9, 2026, at 11:43 p.m. at her home in Columbus, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 2, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio, to Clarence and Maude (Lindsey) Genheimer, she spent her early years there before raising her own family.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Creech Sr., seven of her eight siblings, and her daughter-in-law, Sara Creech. She is survived by her sons, Truman (Laurie) Creech Jr. and David Allen (Sara) Creech; grandchildren Tiffany Creech, Heather Jean Creech (Bill), Heather Nicole (Jordan) Rhoades, and Kimberly (Manny) Creech-Perez; great-grandchildren Nyako, David, Emma, Ashton, Alaynia, Addison, and Khloe; her sister Jean (Jim) Wheeler; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

After moving her family to Tallassee, Alabama, where she was an active member of Redlands Baptist Church, Helen later returned to Columbus to be near her family and friends. She worked as a teacher’s aide in the Columbus Public Schools, waitressed at the Columbus Mannerchor, and most importantly, shared her faith with many. Known for her steady presence and the light she brought to difficult days, Helen created countless cherished memories that will remain with her family forever. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery beside her husband.
