Her family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Bryan Robinson officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Midway Memory Gardens.Mrs. Adkins was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, and she attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Ragland, AL. She was a fiery redhead who was known for loving to have a good time and being the life of the party in her younger years. Her fearless and fun-loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Helen's favorite pastime was caring for and working in her home. She was an excellent housekeeper who always made sure that everything was pristine. Mrs. Adkins was also an outstanding cook. Her ability to make everything taste good-especially her meatloaf and cornbread-was truly one of a kind. She had a big, caring heart and would help anyone that she could. She was a loving mother, sister, and "Nanny" who will be greatly missed.She was preceded in death by her parents, JD and Pauline Bridges; daughter, Cynthia Diane Bridges; brothers, Charles Bridges and Roger Bridges, and sisters, Geraldine Gable and Darlene Bridges.Mrs. Adkins is survived by her sons, Billy Bridges and Leslie Bryant; daughter, Linda Strickland; grandchildren, Natasha Reeves, Angel Hughes (Tim), and Zachary Strickland; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Lackey (Frank) and Ellen Gable; brothers, Doug Bridges and Terry Bridges, and a host of nieces and nephews.Zachary Strickland, Tim Hughes, Issiack Reeves, Barry Pritchett, Chris Jones, and Ryan Reeves will serve as pallbearers.Zachary Hughes and Trevor Strickland will serve as honorary pallbearers.Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing the services.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
