Heather Lee Skiles

Heather Lee Skiles, 45, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on March 13, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on October 23, 1980, Heather grew up along the Lakeshore in Muskegon, where she created many cherished childhood memories with her family. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1998 and later attended Muskegon Community College. Heather dedicated part of her career to caring for others as a health care worker in assisted living facilities in Florida. She was also a well-liked server at several Muskegon-area restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Brann’s, and the Harbortown Yacht Club.

She is survived by her children, Sydney Skiles and Travis Skiles; her parents, Leonard and Laurie (McKeown) Skiles; and her siblings, Jeffrey Skiles, Aaron Skiles (Casey Ballinger), and Joshua Skiles (Amber Skiles). Heather is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Elizabeth (Libby) Skiles, and John and Shirley McKeown.

Heather faced many personal struggles throughout her life, including challenges with mental health. Her family hopes that openness about this part of her story will encourage greater compassion, understanding, and honest conversations. She will be remembered fondly by those who loved her and through the shared memories they hold dear.
