January 26, 1931— February 12, 2026
Columbus, OH
Hazel Marie Sheppard passed away at her home in the early morning of February 12, 2026. A woman of deep faith, she lived with quiet conviction and is now at rest in the hands of the Lord.
Born in Rutland, Ohio, Hazel moved to Columbus as a young woman. She attended Franklin University and went on to build a distinguished 25-year career with the Federal Government at DCSC before retiring. A longtime and faithful member of Maynard Avenue Baptist Church, she served as a choir member and on the deaconess board.
Devoted to her family, Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose influence extended across two more generations. Her heart was drawn to travel, and she cherished journeys to the Grand Canyon, the historic streets of Jerusalem, and the tropical beauty of Hawaii.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry Burney and Viola May Brown, her son George E. Sheppard, and her grandson Dalyn Sheppard. Hazel is survived by her loving family: Deborah Sheppard, Harry (Charlotte) Sheppard, LaTonya Robinson, Ruth Sheppard, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear relatives and friends.
