Born on May 23, 1949, in Camden, Mississippi, he was the cherished son of the late Haywood and Luerenza (Lewis) Greenwood Sr.Haywood devoted thirty years of his life to General Motors, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated production operator. After retiring, he embraced a life of simplicity, finding joy in long walks, fishing, and peaceful drives through the countryside. True to his nature, Haywood disliked the complexities of modern technology; he preferred the personal touch of visiting the bank in person and remained steadfastly uninterested in cell phones and computers.Family was the cornerstone of Haywood's life. He took great delight in caring for his grandchildren during their formative years, often cooking them memorable breakfasts and creating a nurturing environment that they would fondly remember. A passionate sports enthusiast, he never missed the chance to be the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines for his grandchildren during their high school sporting events.Haywood Greenwood Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Aguilar-Rogers and her husband Stuart, and Patrice Ethington and her husband Jelani Ethington, and Haywood Greenwood III and his wife La'Chera, and Lakiesha Mills and her husband David. He is also cherished by his grandchildren, Olivia, Parys, Johnathan, Mikhail, Delaurea, Malaya, Charell, Tottionna, Kyndel, Hassan, James, and Eyrana; seven great-grandchildren, along with his siblings, Bertharine Johnson, James Greenwood, Lizzie Mae Grove, Creola (Tina) Doxie, Dorothy Greenwood, Robert Greenwood, and brother-in-law, Gerald Brown. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Greenwood and sisters, Colue Greenwood, and Mamie Brown.In reflection of his life and impact, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, Michigan.As we come together to honor Haywood's memory, we will celebrate a life dedicated to family, simplicity, and genuine fulfillment.
