Eden, VT

Hayden Denis Morin, 87, of Eden, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, after a period of declining health. Born on May 5, 1938, in Eden, he was the son of the late Denis and Reava (Deuso) Morin. Hayden grew up in Eden, attending the one-room schoolhouse, and carried the values of hard work and community with him throughout his life.

He worked at the asbestos mines while running a dairy farm with his wife, Doris. Later, he worked in the woods and at the sawmill for Buck Heath before he and Doris built a successful construction business together. In 1979, Hayden was appointed road commissioner for the town of Eden, serving faithfully for 19 and a half years. He was honored with the Bullard Award in 2007, an achievement that meant a great deal to him.

A passionate outdoorsman, Hayden loved sugaring and snowmobiling. He shared 67 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Doris Kennett Morin. He is survived by his children Mark (Lynn), Rosalie Atherton (Jon), Tammy Ritchie (Dennis), Laurie Gillespie (Scott), Ricky (Juli), Tina McKnight (Dale), and Dennis (Anita), as well as 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His beloved cat Indy was his constant companion. He is also survived by his sisters Marian Russell, Virginia Tallman, Joyce Boivin, and Emma Earle (Harold).

Hayden was predeceased by his parents, his son Richard, granddaughter Melinda Sue, sister June, and brothers Raymond, Lee, and Roy. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Ronald Russell, Robert Boivin Sr., and Larry Tallman; sister-in-law Irene Morin; in-laws Arthur and Hildred Kennett, Frederick Kennett, and Lila Deuso (Girdon); son-in-law Earl Ritchie; and William “Uncle Bill” Crooks. His family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought him his greatest joy.
