Harry L. Wood, 80, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Harry worked at Marine Corps Base Quantico for 34 years. Following his retirement, he found enjoyment in part-time work at Wegman’s and Carter Machinery. He loved golfing before his illness and had a lifelong passion for Mustangs. He also cherished his vacations at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Melba Oesterheld Wood; his sisters Jessie Haun (Garry), Olive Carrington (Franklin), and Linda Moore (Richard); his brother Spencer; his sister-in-law Janice Oesterheld Pennington (Arthur); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Wood and his sisters Lelia Bloxton, Betty Embrey, Margaret Bryant, and Frances Graninger.
Harry will be remembered for his quiet demeanor and kindness.
