San Antonio, TX
Harry A. Clark III, affectionately known as “Buzz” to all who knew him, passed away on March 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on May 27, 1947, in Puerto Rico to Harry A. Clark, Jr., and Frances Tully Clark, he spent his childhood as an Army brat, moving with his six brothers and sisters among various posts including Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Hood, Texas. His family eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas, where his parents retired.
A gentle giant who stood six feet eight inches tall, Buzz was an accomplished swimmer during his high school years at Prince George High School in Virginia. He went on to graduate from Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, earning a degree in political science and later a graduate degree in industrial psychology. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, teaching English to South Vietnamese fighter pilots and mechanics in Saigon. Following his military service, he continued supporting the Air Force as a civil servant at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base and with the Occupational Measurement Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base.
Beyond his professional life, Buzz was deeply devoted to his family. He enthusiastically supported his children in their youth sports, often volunteering as an assistant coach and scorekeeper. In retirement, he found great joy in music, singing in several church choirs and teaching himself to play the piano. He cherished time spent with friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Augusta; his three children, Christopher, Timothy, and Stephen; his daughters-in-law, Lisa M. Clark and Rebecca J. Clark; his five grandchildren, Holden, Harper, Jackson, Landon, and Harrison; his six siblings, Cathy Wiles (Roger), Lieutenant General (Ret.) Bob Clark (Susie), Sally Johns, Colonel (Ret.) Steve Clark (Ellen), Colonel (Ret.) David Clark (Ja Young), and Tommy Clark (Marilynne); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
