He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Hutchins Ward and Frances Ruth Odom Ward; his wife Virginia May Hendrickson Ward; his son James Edward Ward; his sister Shelba Stone; and his grandson David Joe Ward.

He is survived by: his children, Harold Joe Ward (Kathy) and Frances Ann Ward; his granddaughters, Angela Smith Engleman (Jon), Adrianne Smith Hungerford (Charles), Amanda Smith Tiblier (Mark), Virginia "Ginny" Ward Goodyear (Lucas), Melissa Ward, Jennifer Ward Barras (Bert) and Amber Ward; his great grandchildren, Jackson Engleman, Mason Hungerford, Morgan Hungerford, Kayden Tiblier, Londyn Grace Tiblier, Austin Goodyear, Kylie Goodyear, Kiera Ward, Ian Ward, Ezra Ward, Remington Ward and Hunter Goodyear; and his pet Henry.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home (911 Porter Ave, Ocean Springs, MS 39564). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at the D'Iberville Memorial Park (11041 Gorenflo Rd, D'Iberville, MS 39540).

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your local humane society.
