Harold Najarian
June 23, 1927— March 11, 2026
Ridgefield, NJ
Harold Najarian was born on June 23, 1927, the first of three children born to Charles and Vergine Najarian in Weehawken, New Jersey. For the first five years of his life, he grew up in a lively household that included his parents, grandparents, two great-grandmothers, and several aunts. His youth was spent surrounded by a close-knit Armenian family, where many of his cousins became his lifelong playmates.
While attending Union Hill High School in Union City, New Jersey, Harold was drafted into the Army just shy of graduation toward the end of World War II. Though his family worried, he took great pride in serving his country. After an honorable discharge, he returned home and completed his high school education. He worked alongside his father in the family grocery store business and later finished his career at Kings Super Market.
Harold’s warm and outgoing personality helped him maintain deep friendships throughout his life with cousins, schoolmates, and neighbors. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 142 in Maywood and the Ridgefield Senior Citizens. He loved spending time at the beach swimming, fishing, and relaxing in the sun, and he enjoyed traveling, following the New York Yankees and New York Giants, and, above all, playing poker with family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by many, especially his nieces and nephews.
