Harold Malcolm Wies Jr.

Harold Malcolm Wies, Jr., age 95, of Butler, passed away on March 11, 2026, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born on July 11, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Harold M. Wies, Sr. and Clara Shankland Wies, he was affectionately known as “Bud” throughout his life.

A dedicated engineer, Bud earned his B.S. in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He spent his career as a quality control engineer and advanced to the role of quality control manager. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Sheila, and together they shared 63 years of marriage until her passing in 2016. In 1971, the couple moved to Butler, where they established the local KOA campground.

Bud found great joy in photography, particularly capturing images of nature, birds, and flowers. He was a longtime member of the Butler Lions Club and cherished camping with family at their spot near the KOA. He is survived by his sons, Brad (Debra) Wies and Kevin Wies; his grandchildren, Alisha (Sam) Dean, Kevin Wies, and Isaac Caudill; and his sister, Betty (Dale) Smith, along with several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandson, James Bradley Wies, in addition to his parents and wife.
