Harold Lloyd Hawkins Jr

Harold Lloyd Hawkins Jr

January 2, 1947 March 11, 2026

Grove City, OH

Harold Lloyd Hawkins Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a man of unyielding dedication, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Grove City, Ohio. Born on January 2, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, Harold’s life was marked by hard work, loyalty, and a love that embraced those closest to him.

Harold was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army, embodying a spirit of duty and honor that stayed with him throughout his life. He carried this same steadfastness into every aspect of his life, becoming a pillar of strength for his family and friends.

He was deeply cherished by the loving wife of 45 years, Dixie (Trimble) Hawkins. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and unwavering support. Family was Harold’s greatest treasure, a love reflected in his children: Buffy Hawkins, Jody Hawkins, Jack Hawkins, Joseph O'Neill, Nichole Jacobs, and Matthew Jackson. Each of them carries forward the legacy of his strength and kindness.

Harold found immense joy in his grandchildren—Thomas Hawkins, Samantha Coburn, Katie Hawkins, Elizabeth Hawkins, Sophia Benjamin, Sami Albast, Aaron Hull, Alyson Hawkins, Mikayla Hawkins, Kelli O'Neill, Lexi Hawkins, Brandon Mulholland, and Shaun Milke great granddaughters Aubern Hawkins and Robert Coburn. He was a guiding light and a gentle protector, always present in their lives with encouragement and a ready smile. Harold is also survived by his aunts Shirly Chandler and Beverly Midoff.

Further extended family, including his nieces and nephews, also keep fond memories of Harold’s kindness and readiness to lighten their days.

Harold was preceded in death by his son Michael Melroes, beloved father, Harold Lloyd Hawkins Sr, and his mother, Thelma (Wray) Hawkins, as well as by his uncles Floyd Wray and Donald Wray and aunt Patricia Chandler.  Though these losses were difficult, Harold's life was a testament to resilience and the power of family bonds.

A vivid memory often shared among those who knew Harold fondly recounts how, in elementary school, he would stand up fiercely for his beloved wife Dixie—chasing off any boys who dared to pull her hair. This tender story speaks volumes about the protective and caring nature that defined him throughout his life.

Harold’s visitation will be held on March 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. His funeral service will follow on March 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, also at the Newcomer Funeral Home.

Harold Lloyd Hawkins Jr.’s legacy is one of devoted love, hard work, and unshakable faith in family. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire the lives he touched. May his soul rest in peaceful reflection of a life well-lived and deeply loved.
