Harold “Curly” Lee Clark, 76, of Sheridan, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 28, 1949, in Bauxite, Arkansas, to Carrie Estelle Clark and Nathan Leon Clark. He often joked that the biggest spiders in the world lived around Bauxite, a belief he never abandoned. In 1956, his family moved to Sheridan, where he grew up and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1968. He spent his working life in honest blue-collar trades, including mining, logging, and construction, where his strong work ethic and reliability earned the lasting respect of all who knew him.
In 1969, Harold married the love of his life, Betty Zane Ashcraft. The couple shared 56 devoted years together and were rarely seen apart. Their marriage stood as a quiet example of loyalty, friendship, and enduring love. Harold found joy in simple pleasures—hunting, fishing, telling stories, and spending time with the people he cherished most. He never needed much to be content, only the outdoors, good company, and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Estelle Clark and Nathan Leon Clark, and his daughter-in-law, Amy Clark. Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Zane Clark; his sons, Nathan Clark and Mike Clark; his grandchildren, Eli Clark and Anna Clark; two sisters; and many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
He will be remembered for his humor, his steadfast work, and his deep love for family and friends. His life was simple, strong, and meaningful, and his memory will live on in everyone who knew him. At his request, only a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
