Harold Harper Hackett

1935 — 2026

Mt. Juliet, TN

Harold Harper Hackett passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on January 20, 1935, in Smith County, Tennessee, he was a lifelong member of Laguardo Baptist Church. After graduating from Lebanon High School, Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1963. He retired in 1997 from Overnight Transportation after 34 years of service, where his strong work ethic and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Harold found joy in life’s simpler pleasures. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved gathering with friends for card games. Each morning, he could be found at Hardee’s, sharing breakfast and swapping stories with those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha Smith Hackett; his children, Wayne (Belinda) Hackett, Jeff (Sherry) Hackett, and Kim (Kevin) Kolff; grandchildren Bailey Kolff, Brady Kolff, Amber McKee (Justin Humphrey), Jessica Hackett, Meghann (Michael) Moran, Christy Hammonds, Leslie Strum, and Ryan Kennedy; and great-grandchildren Josh, Jordan, Jasmine, Colton, Grace, and Emma. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus “Buck” and Mary (Harper) Hackett.

He leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship, and quiet enjoyment of the outdoors and community that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
