Harold Gene Whitaker

Harold Gene Whitaker, age 91 of Bland, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Harold was born July 3, 1934, in Hillside, KY, a son to the late James and Linnie Mae (Hope) Whitaker.

He attended school at Muhlenberg High School in Kentucky. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 until his discharge in 1958.

Harold worked as a tablet coater for a pharmaceutical company before his retirement.

He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, riding motorcycles both on and off road, bowling, coaching softball and of course spending time with his family.

Harold is survived by two daughters, Tamara Leach and her husband Christopher of Warrenton and Christine Orlando of Bland: 5 grandchildren, Kymberly (Keith) Orlando, Stephen (Kristen) Leach, Ashley Workman, Michael (Eileen) Orlando and Hollyanne (Levi) Reel 11 great grandchildren with number 12 on the way and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents and spouse of 54 years, Harold was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday March 13, 2026, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
