Harold “Ernie” E. Keenan, 81, of Oxford, passed away on March 9, 2026, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Diane R. (Layte) Cleggett-Keenan of Oxford; his daughters, Annmarie Keenan of Charlton, Andrea Fox of Worcester, Tamara “Tammy” Collard and her husband Jay of Oxford, and Jody Grigarauskas of Southbridge; his sister, Janice Pearson of Charlton; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six bonus great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Therese L. (LaPorte) Keenan, who died in 2005; three brothers, Robert, James, and Ronald Keenan; and a sister, Margaret Richard.
Born in Bangor, Maine, to the late Andrew H. and Irene M. (Arsenault) Keenan, Ernie grew up in Maine and later lived in Worcester before settling in Oxford in 1973. A graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1962, he served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and continued his military commitment in the Army National Guard from 1967 to 1978. He worked for Cutler Associates in Worcester for 22 years, retiring in 2006, after earlier employment at the Thom McCann warehouse in Auburn.
Ernie was a longtime member of the Church of the Reconciliation in Webster and previously served as Junior Warden and Sexton at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Auburn. He remained active in the American Legion Post 4 in Gardiner, Maine. He found great joy in camping and was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots.
