Harley Beavers, 91, of Murphy, N.C., passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, N.C., and the son of the late Herman and Sara Jane Sneed Beavers. Harley retired from Levi Strauss with 32 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, woodworking and helping his wife, Ruth, with quilting. Harley made sure that all his nieces and nephews attended church. He was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Harley was a good Christian man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Hasten, John, Clinton, Wilford, Robert, Horace and Wayne; and two sisters, Radie Morgan and Linnie Tanner. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Hoyt Brown officiated. Burial was in the Bellview Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny, Chris, Randy, Zack and Thomas Beavers, and Darryl Phillips. The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bellview Community Cemetery, 155 Glenn Stalcup Road, Murphy, NC 28906. Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
