Hamid Sangabi

Hamid Sangabi, a professor of Mathematics and Statistics at SUNY Broome, died on March 5, 2026, in Endicott. He dedicated three decades of service to the college, beginning his teaching and tutoring in 1993 and retiring in 2023. During that time, he supported countless students in both the Business Programs and Mathematics departments.

A respected mathematician, Hamid was equally known for the quiet kindness and generosity he showed to students and colleagues alike. He will be remembered not only for his knowledge and commitment to learning, but also for being a gentle, honorable man who carried himself with integrity and strength.

He leaves behind family and friends who will cherish the example he set through his life of quiet dedication and compassion.
