Hal G Vermes

Hal G. Vermes, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Born on September 6, 1955 in Springfield to the late Roy and Jean (Rogers) Vermes, he grew up and received his education there before proudly serving his country as a combat medic in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

After his military service, Hal became a skilled upholstery craftsman, operating his own successful business. He took great pride in his work and was known as a true artisan in his trade. In his free time, he found deep peace in nature, particularly through camping and whale watching along the ocean. A talented drummer, he also enjoyed making music, yet nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family.

Hal is survived by his loving wife, Tammy; his children, Jason Vermes and his wife Sara, and Jennifer Gilbert and her husband Jeremy; and his adored grandchildren, Cali, Liam, Nevaeh, and Cameron. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Roger and many extended family members and friends.
