Hai Ngoc Phan

Hai was born on December 9, 1951 in Saigon, Vietnam. He immigrated to the United States in 1980 and settled in Syracuse, New York. In 1982 he met Quyen Truong, whom he soon married. For most of his life he worked two full-time custodial jobs at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Syracuse Airport, taking great pride in his strong work ethic. Through his dedication he supported his children in completing prestigious college educations, an opportunity he had envisioned for himself but was unable to finish because of the unrest in Vietnam.

Beyond his work, Hai cherished his extensive karaoke collection and often spent evenings celebrating with good music, delicious food, and dear friends. His laughter and song brought warmth to everyone around him and will be deeply missed.

Hai passed on March 9, 2026, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Quyen, his brothers and sisters, his daughters and son, and six granddaughters.
