Gwendolyn Gipson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home - Nashville Chapel on Mar. 10, 2026.Gwendolyn LaJune Gipson of Nashville, Tennessee, transitioned on March 8, 2026.Affectionately known to many as LaJune, she was born on June 1, 1940, in Pleasant View, Tennessee, to the late John and Mary Ruth Patterson.LaJune graduated from the Cheatham County School System in 1958. She later married Theophilus Gipson Sr., and together they raised five children. LaJune enjoyed a career of over 20 years at Meharry Medical Hospital, where she dedicated many years of service. She was known for her kindness, humor, and love for country music, touching the lives of many.LaJune leaves to cherish her memory her four sons, Theophilus Gipson Jr., Gregory L. Gipson, Steven A. Gipson (Jacqueline), and Kenneth J. Gipson, and one daughter, Rosalyn Gipson-McCullough. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Kennethia Palmer; Deidra and Quintin McCullough; and Sean, Daron, Taleah, and Tamara Gipson.She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Janiya, Michael Jr., Monroe, Jade, Elijah, and Daron Jr. She leaves a great host of cousins, relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ruth Patterson; her sister, Melva; her brother, William; and Theophilus Gipson Sr.The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and hospital staff for their support and care.Granny June will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.Visitation will be on Saturday, March 14 from 9am - 10am. Services will begin at 10am in our chapel. Interment immediately following at Greenwood North Cemetery in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.In lieu of cut flowers the family asks that plants be sent instead.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
