Gwenda Whatley Downing

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gwenda Whatley Downing of Troy, Texas, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Gwenda left this world on March 6, 2026 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Whatley and Lorene Lucky Whatley; her husband Dub Downing; and her son Douglas Downing. She is survived by: her son John Downing (Carla); her daughter-in-law Shellie Downing; her grandchildren, Trinton Downing, Clayton Downing, Raley Downing, Ashleigh Magness (Morgan) and Chance Downing; and her great grandchild Archer Magness. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (20 Church Ave, Troy, TX 76579). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
