Gwen Roberts ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Chandler Memorial Funeral Home - Chandler on Mar. 16, 2026.A celebration of the life of Gwen Roberts, 89, of Chandler, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Chandler Church of Christ, with Ed Stover officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to attend a luncheon provided by the church ladies. Later that afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a memorial graveside service will be held at New Salem Cemetery in New Salem, Texas.Mrs. Roberts passed away on March 12, 2026, in Tyler.Lela Gwendolyn (Costelow) Roberts was born on March 15, 1936, in New Salem, Texas, the daughter of Olen Briant Costelow and Lennie Lunett (Hodges) Costelow. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston in 1954. Gwen was a schoolteacher for 35 years, teaching in several school districts including Boyd County High School in Kentucky, Memorial High School in the Spring Branch ISD, and Booker T. Washington High School in the Houston ISD. She was a member of the Chandler Church of Christ and enjoyed reading, traveling, eating, and taking her grandchildren to many different destinations.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Winslow John Roberts; two sisters, Linda Bump and Nelda Wilkerson; and her son-in-law, Keven Eddy.Survivors include her children: Ken Roberts and wife Peggy; Randy Roberts and wife Kristi; and Sherry Eddy. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Reeves and Karen Poe; her grandchildren, Michele Marroquin and husband Omar, Brittney Cox and husband Lane, Bruce Eddy, Eric Eddy, and Gabi Roberts; and her great-grandchildren, Ava Marroquin, Isabella Marroquin, Layla Wray, Cadence Eddy, Bella Eddy, Kanye Thomas, and Harper Grace Cox.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
