Gregory Charles Darling, 70, of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of Rochester, New York, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on March 29, 1955, to Betty and Harry Darling, Greg lived a life defined by deep devotion to those he loved.

A devoted husband for nearly 50 years, he was a proud father to two children and grandfather to four. His love for his family was steadfast and deeply felt in every aspect of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Darling; his father, Harry Darling; his brother, David Darling; and his brother-in-law, Tim Gefell. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Gefell Darling; his children, Molly Yarbrough (Andy) and Michelle Francis (Ben); his four cherished grandchildren, Miller Hopkins, Drew Yarbrough, Anna Yarbrough, and Bayleigh Francis; his sister, Susan Bailey; his brother, Harry Darling, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Greg dedicated 40 years of his career to DuPont before retiring. In the decade that followed, he became a beloved substitute teacher known affectionately as “Poppie” to generations of students at Jack Anderson Elementary. He valued hard work, laughter, and love, and found joy in cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Red Sox at Moby Dicky’s. His lifelong passion for music and dancing created countless cherished memories for his family. In his later years, he most treasured attending his grandchildren’s sporting events across the state, proudly supporting them from the stands.
