Gregoire D'Auteuil ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Plummer Funeral Home - Augusta on Mar. 17, 2026.AUGUSTA, MAINEGregoire F. D'Auteuil, age 82, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Augusta, ME on April 10, 1943, a son of the late Ena and Florence (Albert) D'Auteuil.Greg was a proud graduate of Cony High School and of Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He went on to become a self-employed master electrician, working throughout the Augusta and Rangeley areas for many years. He took a lot of pride in his work, and many homes carry a piece of him because of it.If you knew Greg, you knew his smile-it was contagious-and his personality was one of a kind. He was known by many and very well loved by those who knew him. He loved to share memories of his earlier years-fishing trips with friends, good times and experiences in the service, but mostly the many memories he built with the people he loved most. He often reminded those around him of his simple but steady outlook on life: "Don't sweat the small stuff."His heart was always at camp in Rangeley. That was his special place. Over the years, he poured so much time and love into building and improving it so that family and friends could gather and enjoy it together. He could often be found in his rocking chair, looking out the big picture window at the lake and Saddleback Mountain, happiest just watching his family laugh, relax, and make memories. It's where "Pepere" was most at peace-surrounded by the people who meant everything to him.Greg-known to many as "Sparky"-had a deep love for moose hunting. He spent countless seasons helping friends with their hunts, celebrating every success as if it were his own. He was fortunate enough to go on five moose hunts himself-where he still holds the record at camp for the biggest rack.He was a lifelong member of Le Club Calumet, a place that meant a great deal to him. There, you could usually find him enjoying a Budweiser in a small glass, surrounded by some of his closest friends-people who truly looked out for him and meant the world to him.He was pre-deceased by his wife, Linda J. (Roy) D'Auteuil and is survived by his daughters: Melissa Naborowsky and her husband Jeff of Ladson, SC and Shelly Simpson and life partner, Carlo Paratore of Saco; a brother, Albert D'Auteuil and wife Mary of Sidney; a sister, Ann d'Auteuil Bartolo and husband Ernie of Morgantown, WV; three grandchildren: Abigail J. Folsom and her husband Francis of Augusta, Tyler J. Simpson of Augusta and Cameron G. Naborowsky of Ladson, SC. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply. At Greg's request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26th at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will be held at a later date in the old Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maine Moose Kids in honor of Greg's love for youth hunting and fishing. The family also welcomes you to share your favorite hunting or fishing memories of Greg. A basket for donations will be available at the celebration of life following the Mass.Greg will be remembered as our sweet, beloved Pepere-a man who spread joy, laughter, and warmth wherever he went. His stories, his smile, and the love he gave so freely will stay with us always. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.Condolences, stories and photos may be shared at www.plummerfh.com .To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
