Roy, UT

Grant Cleon Jensen was born on November 26, 1939, in Malad, Idaho, the first of seven children born to Rawleigh Grant Jensen and Thora Moon. He grew up in Malad, where he helped with gardening and farming and was active in Future Farmers of America. A lifelong learner, Cleon had a deep knowledge of church history and doctrine, enjoyed reading, and steadily built an extensive personal library. After years of attending night school, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies from Weber State College in 1985.

Cleon worked for more than forty years at Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft repairman. He served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, and was discharged shortly after his marriage. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission in southern California and held numerous callings throughout his life. He was a generous home teacher who genuinely cared for those he served, and he found special fulfillment working alongside his wife, Barbara, as an Ogden Temple worker. He also cherished helping his four sons earn their scouting awards.

On June 1, 1965, Cleon was sealed for time and eternity to his beloved sweetheart, Barbara Ann Morrissey, in the Logan Temple. Together they raised seven children: Kimberly Ferrell (Jeff), Timothy Scott (Chris Schultz), Daylynn O’Driscoll (John), Daniel Shawn (Chris Valdovinos), Peter Kaye (Alex Cooper), Sarina Schmittling (Jim), and Cory Patrick (Marci Moore). Their family grew to include many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom Cleon loved holding on his lap and entertaining with his corny dad jokes and his memorable Gustavus Ghost stories. He was also a prolific thinker and writer, filling many volumes of journals and notebooks.

After a long illness, Cleon passed away on March 9, 2026, in Roy, Utah, surrounded by family. He was reunited with his beloved Barbara. He is remembered as a quiet, thoughtful man who provided steadily for his family and left behind a rich legacy of faith, learning, and love for his descendants.
