Grace Marie Fischer

Fischer, Grace Marie (Critchlow)ALBANY - Grace Marie (Critchlow) Fischer passed away from a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residences, in Loudonville, N.Y., on March 13, 2026, at the age of 96. Grace was born in Hancock, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Fischer, in 1984; her parents, Braden and Grace Critchlow; sister, Virginia Cundall (Howard), sister Elaine Cable (Donald). She is survived by her son, David Fischer (Leslie), who lives in Colonie, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.She attended Roessleville School in Colonie, NY. She volunteered in the filter center for the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and worked for the N.Y.S. Department of Environmental Conservation for about 40 years. She always made sure to proudly display the U.S. Flag and supported all the uniformed services. She was an avid animal lover, especially her many cats over the years, and was often referred to as "The Cat Lady." She was very skilled at embroidery, and liked to entertain her family and friends with dishes that had added flair.Special thanks to the caring staff of Loudonville Assisted Living Residences, especially Mary, who not only cared for her, but became family to her.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Grace's family, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany, N.Y. 12206.
