Gordon Walter Orth, 74, of Eureka, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Born on January 4, 1952, to Walter and Amanda (Neuharth) Orth in Eureka, Gordon grew up on the family farm outside of Herreid, South Dakota. He attended country school for two years before transferring to Herreid School, and in 1967 his family moved to Lodi, California, where he graduated from Lodi High School in 1970.
In 1978, Gordon married Roberta Clark. Together they had two children, Daniel and Kimberly. Gordon spent many years working for General Mills in Lodi. He enjoyed drag racing, NASCAR, and working on cars in his younger days. After retiring, he moved to the foothills of California to be near his brother before returning to Eureka. In later years he resided at the Good Samaritan in Herreid and then at Avera Care in Eureka. He found quiet pleasure in puzzling, playing bingo, and attending church services.
Gordon is survived by his brother, Dale Edward (Nan) Orth of Eureka; his daughter, Kimberly Marie Orth of Texas; his grandson, Donovan John Orth of California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter D. and Amanda Orth; his son, Daniel Gordon Orth; and his grandson, Devin Daniel Orth.
