Gordon Willis ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Twiford Funeral Home - Outer Banks - Manteo on Mar. 10, 2026.Gordon Ray Willis, affectionately known as Gordie, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Nags Head, NC, at the age of 71.Raised in Dare County, Gordie attended Manteo High School. He dedicated many years of service to the community through his work with Dare County UPS and Dare County Sanitation. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for the ocean. An avid surfer, Gordie found peace and joy riding the waves along the Outer Banks.Gordie's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Roanoke Island Baptist Church. His most cherished moments were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.Gordie is preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie Wilton Willis and Sallie Lavenia Willis.He is survived by his devoted wife, Angela Willis; his daughter, Alicia Ann Willis (Matthew), of Manteo, NC; and his treasured grandchildren, Kiana Nicole Willis (Ethan), of Greenville, NC, and Kendrick Ray White of Manteo, NC. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Darlene Anderson of Engelhard, NC, Janice Hooper of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Biddy Willis of Manns Harbor, NC, along with two nieces and one nephew.In his final years, Gordie resided at Peak Resources, where he received compassionate care. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their kindness and support during this time.In lieu of a service at the time, the family invites friends, and loved ones to offer their prayers and thoughts in remembrance of Gordie.
