Gordon Moir "Gordy" Caldwell

Gordon Moir "Gordy" Caldwell

July 4, 1956 March 11, 2026

Baltimore, MD

Gordon Moir Caldwell passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by family, just ten months after the death of his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Marsha.

Born on July 4, 1956, in Dundee, Scotland, Gordy grew up in Galion, Ohio. He was the cherished son of Joan and Gordon Caldwell, who both preceded him in death. He was the devoted husband of the late Marsha Caldwell and the proud father of two daughters, Linsay Clifford (Brian Clifford) and Kacie Caldwell. Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Grumpy Gramps” to his twin grandsons, Bennett and Hudson Clifford. A true “Girl Dad” long before the phrase existed, he was especially excited to welcome grandsons into the family.

Gordy dedicated his life to two great passions: golf and his family. He played golf at both the high school and collegiate levels before graduating from The Ohio State University with a degree in turf management. He spent his entire career as a golf course superintendent, a profession he truly loved. In 1990, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he worked at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club until his retirement. Much of his life was spent on the golf course, whether working to keep it perfect or enjoying a round himself.

When he was not on the course, Gordy could most often be found on the sidelines of a field, court, or pool, proudly cheering on his daughters in their sports. Traveling the country to watch his youngest daughter, Kacie, compete as an Ohio State Buckeye was one of the proudest chapters of his life. A man of few words, he was known for perfectly timed one-liners, weather updates, little-known facts about grass, and random sports trivia that always left those around him smiling. He will be remembered for his love of golf, his deep dedication to his family, and the steady, quiet presence he brought to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
