Gordon D. Hurttgam

Gordon Hurttgam, 88, of St. Cloud, passed away at his home on March 12, 2026.

Born on July 23, 1937, the fifth of six children to Edwin and Alma (Bellhorn) Hurttgam, Gordon grew up on a farm in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. He began his education in a one-room schoolhouse in Clinton Township before attending Trinity Lutheran School and Mt. Clemens High School. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Clemens. After graduation, he worked for Michigan Bell Telephone before enlisting in the Army, where he served in telecommunications. He enjoyed a long career in the field, retiring from Quest Communication in 2000 after 44 years of service.

On June 25, 1960, Gordon married Myrna Brandmire at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, Minnesota. The two shared more than six decades together, raising a family grounded in faith and hard work. Gordon was a quiet, steady presence in the lives of those who knew him, shaped by his rural upbringing, military service, and dedication to his career and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wilbert, Earl, and Russ, his sister Ruth, and his grandson Jack. Gordon is survived by his wife Myrna, his brother James, his children Debra, Michael, Joel (Mary Ann), and Beth (Don), six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
