December 23, 1932— March 7, 2026
Oklahoma City, OK
Gloria Ruth (Stiles) Eller was born on December 23, 1932, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and passed away on March 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Helen Stiles; her brother, Fred Stiles; and her beloved husband, Oscar. She is survived by one brother, Mark Stiles; her five daughters, Gloria, Vennetta, Suzanne, Wanda and Michelle; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Gloria and Oscar were married on her birthday in 1953 and shared nearly 49 years together before his passing in 2002. As the wife of a Nazarene preacher serving small churches, she was deeply involved in church life, serving as pianist, organist, soloist, and lively accordion player. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, directed Easter cantatas, and once formed a handbell choir. In 1974, she returned to college and became a registered nurse, working in hospitals, nursing homes, and mental health facilities, where she often prayed with and for her patients.
Known for her warm sense of humor and love of thrift shopping, Gloria cherished collecting treasures and sharing the stories behind her finds. Family meant everything to her; she welcomed everyone, whether born or married into the family, making each person feel loved and included. She loved attending church and singing, playing old hymns by heart on the piano, and encouraging her daughters to play instruments and sing, a tradition they will continue in her honor. After retiring, she and Oscar spent cherished time living and working part-time at the Nazarene campground in New Mexico.
