Gloria N. "Ferri" McHugh

November 22, 1921 March 11, 2026

Cranston, RI

Gloria N. (Ferri) McHugh, 104, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 11, 2026. She was the devoted wife of the late Patrick F. McHugh, CPD, ret.

Born November 22, 1921, in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Rocco “Roy” Ferri and Jeannette (SanMartino) Ferri. Gloria dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the Cranston Municipal Employees Credit Union. In her working years and throughout her long retirement, she found joy in traveling the world, taking peaceful walks along the shore at Narragansett Town Beach, and cherishing time with family and friends. An avid reader, she remained a passionate supporter of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

She is survived by her three children, Maureen H. McHugh of Texas, Laurie P. (the late Edward) Mercier of Cranston, and Patrick F. (Donna) McHugh of Florida. She was the beloved “Big Nana” to her four grandchildren, Edward Mercier, Jr., Kelly P. Mercier, Christopher McHugh, and Michael McHugh, and her three great-grandchildren, Leah Mercier, Mason DiMezza, and Kelsey McHugh. Gloria is also survived by her brother, Joseph R. Ferri of Virginia, her sister, Ann M. Tartaglione of Cranston, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she adored. While she cherished her own family deeply, her warmth and love reached far beyond blood ties, earning her the affectionate title of “Big Nana” to so many.
