Gloria Jean Stange

Gloria Stange passed away on Sunday, March 1st, 2026 surrounded by love.

Gloria was born to Detlef and Ardith Stange in Council Bluffs, IA. She was their only child.

Gloria grew up on a farm and went to school in Carson, IA. She played the piano at her church and was a 4-H member as a young girl.

Gloria worked for the WI Department of Revenue for many years as an auditor, her expertise was cherished by many. She volunteered for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) giving lectures on tax law and assisting individuals with their taxes.

Gloria was involved with The Friendship Force for years hosting families from abroad. She enjoyed traveling and visited many places including her heritage in Germany, and Scotland and Africa.

She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Madison, involved in the Esther-Naomi Circle and Bible Study for many years.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by a cousin Connie Cryer, and other second cousins.

The family extends deepest thanks to Kerry, her amazing caregiver for five years (Home Instead), and to her Westminster Presbyterian Church family for their care and support in these recent weeks and days.

Gloria’s memorial service and celebration of life will take place on Thursday, March 12th, at 11:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4100 Nakoma Road, Madison, WI., with fellowship and refreshments to follow.

Gifts in memory of Gloria Stange can be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Madison, WI, or to any charity of your choice.

Interment will be in Treynor, IA in a family plot at a later date.
