Gloria H. Polk, 84, formerly Gloria Hill, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on March 15, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Gloria was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she actively participated in Sunday School and mid-week Bible Study. She also served in the church’s Mission Department, Food Pantry, and Quilting Ministry. For more than twenty-five years, she worked at the Union Sixth District Child Care Center, dedicating herself to the care and nurturing of young children.

She is survived by her sons, Palfrey L. Polk, Jr. (Erica) of Houma and Minister Ryan D. Polk, Sr. (Tammyica) of New Iberia; her daughters, Shelia Polk JeanBaptiste (Donovan C.) and Felesia H. Polk, both of New Iberia; her bonus daughter, Dwaynette G. Dwyer (Gary) of Galveston, Texas; the niece she raised as her own, Ravena P. Pete (Trillis) of Breaux Bridge; her brothers, George Hill, Jr. of New Iberia and Dale A. Hill (Genever) of Grand Marias; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn P. JeanBatiste of Breaux Bridge and Dorothy P. Robertson of Houston; her brother-in-law, Wilfred Polk, Sr. of Olivier; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Palfrey Lee Polk, Sr.; her parents, George Hill and Harriet Placide Hill; her sisters, Josephine Johnson and JoElla Jones; her brother, Warren Hill; and her grandson, Ryan D. Polk, Jr.
