On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Gloria Gomez Lara, 76, of Odessa, TX. passed away at Medical Center Hospital.
1 Peter 2:24: “….by his wounds you have been healed”.
John 3:16: “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
Gloria Gomez Lara was born in Pecos, Texas to Juan & Delfina Gomez on December 13, 1949. Gloria attend school in Balmorhea for her elementary through high school years. She went on and attended a trade school / Job Corps in her early twenties in El Paso, Texas receiving her GED. She also met the love of her life there, Faustino D. Lara and later married on September 10, 1968 in Pecos Tx. Gloria was dedicated, hard working and gave her full potential to each of her employers. Throughout life she was a waitress, a CNA, and also graduated and received her State licenses in Cosmetology. She then became a hairdresser for most of life until she retired.
Mark 5:34: He said to her “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
She had love for everyone that was unmeasurable. She never wanted nothing more but just a little bit of your time. Family was everything to her. She had a heart of gold with a beautiful sense to take care of everyone. Especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her precious jewels, seeing no wrongdoing in them. She always offered a helping hand, even opening her home to anyone that needed or wanted to stay. She had a giving heart, the kind of heart that never hesitated to help and offered love without limits. She was one you could always find, in the stands, cheering and supporting her loved ones with unwavering pride. She became BOLD in her faith & walk with Jesus. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys & MOJO fan. To be loved by Mom was such a blessing & she will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Faustino D. Lara; parents Juan & Delfina Gomez, sister Bertha Garcia, brother Raymond Gomez. In laws Felix & Refugia Lara, sister in laws Anna Barron, Susie Lara, Rosa Lara. Elva Lara, brother in laws Lupe Lara, Raul Lara, Carlos Martinez, Mundo Garcia, CT Gray, Tommy Trammel.
She is survived by her Daughter, Amy (Oscar) Moreno; Sons, George (Maggie) Gomez, Faustino (Neomi) Lara Jr.; Sisters, Amada Martinez, Lydia Trammel; Brothers, Johnny (Carmela) Gomez, Ruben Gomez, Robert (Marylou) Gomez; Grandchildren, Desiree (Keenan) Mosby, Destinee Moreno, Deylan Moreno, Dylan Moreno, Aaron Gomez, Jereme (Celeste), Bryan Gonzales, Giovanni (Justin) Banning, Nicole (Mark) Lara, Serena Lara, Aliyah Lara, Anberlin Lara; Great Grandchildren, Kaz Mosby, Keilani Mosby, Jonah Cazares, Khaleesi Iris Lara, Ziryda Banning, Jalyahs Banning, Presley Banning, Zaiden Gonzales, Noah Gonzales; Great Great grandchildren, Seylah Stormi Banning.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 1pm to 9pm. The rosary will be prayed at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, 2pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Bernardito Getigan officiating.
As mom’s wishes were to be cremated, we as a family will honor that wish.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Moreno, Deylan Moreno, Dylan Moreno, Keenan Mosby, George Gomez, Jereme Gomez, Justin Banning, Jaylahs Banning. Honorary Pallbearers: Kaz Mosby, Jonah Cazares, Faustino Lara Jr, Johnny Gomez, Ruben Gomez, Robert Gomez, Armando Lara, Ruben Lara.
The family would like to say Thank You, from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support. To MCH 5th floor & CCU. To all our family and friends for their generous donations, calls, texts, visits, food, prayers and most of all for loving our Momma.
