March 27, 1943— March 5, 2026
Stanton, KY
Glenna Ruth Hall, age 82, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her home. Born on March 27, 1943, in Gessling, Kentucky, to the late Lorenzo “Jack” Pence and the late Thelma Burton Pence, Ruth graduated from Carter City School with the class of 1961. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Stanton Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School to children from kindergarten through fifth grade and sang in the choir. In her later years she found a warm spiritual home at Clay City First Church of God.
Ruth possessed a great love of music and was an accomplished guitarist. She also played an active role in her husband Donald Ray’s photography business, contributing her own considerable talent behind the camera. For twenty-one years she served the United States Postal Service with a sweet disposition and strong work ethic. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who placed her family’s needs before her own and rarely missed an event involving her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Her playful spirit, love of hide-and-seek, gentle sense of humor, and quiet enjoyment of a good mystery novel created countless cherished memories for those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Hall; one daughter, Lori Jo Hall; two brothers, Gene Pence and Jackie Arnold Pence; three sisters-in-law, Judy Pence, Louise Pence, and Juanita Hall Kerr; a special cousin, Jack Cales; two grandchildren, Ryan McCoy and Gary Lee “Chip” Hensley; and one nephew, Scotty Pence.
She is survived by one daughter, Robin LeAnne (Randy) McCoy of Stanton; one step-daughter, Chuckie (Gary) Hensley of Georgetown; five brothers, Larry Pence of West College Corner, Indiana, David (Susan) Pence of Ashland, Ronnie (Susie) Pence of Grayson, Doug (Maria) Pence of Ashland, and Johnny (Lisa) Pence of Florence; five grandchildren, Stevie Jo (Cadence) Randall, Kinley Nicole (Austin) Miller, Robert Jake McCoy, Sarah Hensley, and Joe Hensley; and five great-grandchildren, Bryson Randall, Brylee Mason, Raymond Lee Young, Bella Hensley, and Elijah Hensley.
