Glendeth Ann Meese, 94, of Robinson, Illinois, formerly of Oblong, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Timber Creek Assisted Living in Robinson.
Born on November 14, 1931, in West Union, Illinois, Glendeth was the daughter of Clarence and Hazel Augusta (Meek) Hildebrand. She graduated from Newton Community High School in 1949 and went on to build a long and dedicated career at the First National Bank of Oblong, where her friendly nature and reliability made her a trusted presence in the community. She married James Walter “Jim” Meese Jr. on November 24, 1955, in Willow Hill, Illinois, and they shared a loving marriage until his passing in 2017.
A faithful member of the First Christian Church of Oblong, Glendeth found joy on the golf course and was a proud founding member of the Oak Glennettes. Above all, she cherished her family and took deep pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
She is survived by her children, Craig Alan (Josette) Meese of Lafayette, Louisiana, Scott Lee (Linda) Meese of Winchester, Tennessee, and Lori Ann (Kevin) Kemp of Robinson; three grandchildren, Matthew (Holly) Kemp of Rogers, Arkansas, Michael (Shannon) Kemp of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Daniel Meese of Nashville, Tennessee; and four great-grandchildren, Andrew Kemp, Preston Kemp, Noelle Kemp, and Victoria Kemp. She is also survived by her brother, Norman (Pat) Hildebrand of Newton, her sister, Sandra Farley of Newton, and several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
