Gina LaValle

Gina Rene LaValle, age 63, of Calhoun, Louisiana, passed away on March 15, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1962, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Arthur and Naomi Nicholson.

Gina lived life on her own terms, guided by a fierce independence and a vibrant personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Creative and resourceful, she had a keen eye for beauty in unexpected places. She loved antiquing, thrifting, and exploring garage sales in search of unique treasures that often found new life in her many arts and crafts projects. Her imagination and playful spirit shone through in everything she touched.

She took special joy in making her home her own, frequently redecorating her kitchen with fresh styles and ideas. The holiday season brought out her brightest enthusiasm; she would begin decorating for Christmas as early as October, filling her home with lights and festive charm that often remained until March because it brought her such happiness. Her daughter-in-law Ginger cherished moments like the day they melted plastic spoons together to create handmade jewelry, a perfect example of Gina’s inventive and joyful approach to life.

In the kitchen, Gina cooked with enthusiasm and flavor, guided by her simple belief that butter made everything better. She loved sharing her food and her warmth with those around her. Above all, she loved fiercely and lived boldly, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, humor, and colorful memories.

She is survived by her two sons, Trey LaValle and his wife Ginger, and Alex LaValle; four grandchildren, Josiah, Elaina, Emmett, and Titus; three sisters, Durenda Hardy (Maury), Delta Rushing, and Melinda Verrett; two brothers, Myron Nicholson (Billie) and Mitchell Ice; and a host of extended family and friends. A private service will be held at a later date.
