Giles M. Yochum

Giles Yochum was born on February 3, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, to Durward and Evelyn Yochum. He passed away on March 9, 2026, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 67 years, Susan Yochum; his daughter, Jackie Sancho; his grandchildren, Zackery Yochum (Carolyn), Cassandra Cheadle (Tom), Shea Tyler Handshaw (Amber), and Jonathan McDonald; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Durward and Evelyn Yochum; his brother, Robert Yochum; and his two sons, Benjamin and David Yochum.

Giles married Susan Graham in 1958, and together they built a life filled with love and family in Columbus. He worked for Kroger Bakery and later retired from the company. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He passed this passion on to his sons and raised beagles to hunt with, including his last beagle, Pete, who became a cherished companion despite not being a hunting dog. In his later years, he enjoyed reading hunting magazines and watching hunting shows.

Above all, Giles loved his family and treasured the time spent with them. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle husband, father, and grandfather who cared deeply for those around him. He was dearly loved and will be missed every day.
