Gilberto went by Gil, Gilly or Boo-Boo (as Gil referenced himself to being like Boo-Boo, Yogi bears side kick) depending on who you were in his life. Born on August 25, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio, to Eluterio Falcon Amaya and Maria Olivia (Valadez) Amaya, he was the youngest of 10 siblings. Throughout his life, he touched countless lives with his humor and his willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.Gil was also an avid sports enthusiast. He rooted passionately for his Ohio State Buckeyes and his Dallas Cowboys, rarely missing an opportunity to represent his teams or celebrate a good win. His enthusiasm for sports brought people together and added excitement to family gatherings.Gil was preceded in death by his parents, Eluterio Falcon and Maria Olivia (Valadez) Amaya, his brothers Andrew, Vincente and Clemente Amaya, his sister Rose Elba Amaya and nephew Steven Tabbert.He is survived by his only son, Gilberto (Gee Jay) Amaya Jr. of Youngstown OH, his brothers, Eluterio Amaya of Athens GA, Ismaiel (Jennifer) Amaya of Monroe MI, Alberto Hernandez of Toledo OH, sisters, Maria (Robert) Saul of Mesick MI, Lidia Amaya of Spring TX, Octavia Amaya (Jason Linkes)of Toledo OH, Barbie Amaya of Toledo OH and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they created together. Giberto's love for his family was evident in every chapter of his life, and his influence will live on in those who were fortunate enough to know him.Services for Giberto V. Amaya will be held at House of Day Funeral Home, 2550 Nebraska Avenue, Toledo, OH 43607.Visitation will take place:• Saturday, March 14th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM• Sunday, March 15th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AMFuneral services will begin on Sunday, March 15th at 11:00 AM.Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor the life of a man who brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
