He was born on April 28, 1935, in Swink, Oklahoma. Gilbert was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather.A proud member of the Choctaw Nation, Gilbert spent his childhood in Hugo, Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and attended Murray State College. After an early career in the grocery and aircraft industries, he became a real estate investor and managed his properties for fifty years.Gilbert was a man of many adventures, enjoying boating, flying, hunting, golf, and traveling in his motorhomes. He was a trusted friend to many, serving as president of The Oklahoma City Young Men's Association and president of the Happy OK Wanderers RV Club. And he was one fine dancer.He is survived by his first love and wife of sixty-nine years, Helen Lois Stagner; his sons, Darold Stagner and wife Mindy of Rich Hill, Missouri, and Roger Stagner of Yukon, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Dylan, Catherine, Jennepher, and Madison; and his favorite grandson-in-law, Matt King.A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, Oklahoma. A reception will immediately follow at Spanish Cove Plaza Hall, 1401 S. Cornwell, Yukon, Oklahoma.
