Lisle, IL

Gianfranco "John" Giuntoli, 89, of Lisle, passed away on March 2, 2026. Born on September 19, 1936 in Italy to Ulisse and Ginetta Giuntoli, he was the beloved husband of Lita (nee Pellegrini) for 70 years. He was the loving father of Pamela (the late James) Viverito, Michael John (Debra) Giuntoli, Maria (Mike) Fisher, and Paula (Bruce) Kallberg; the dearest nonno of Phillip Viverito (Lea), Nina Viverito (Francisco), Eric Giuntoli, Alana (Brian) Polston, Brant and Cammy Fisher, Chloe and Clarise Kallberg, and the late Carly; and the dear great-grandfather of Malia and Lorenzo. He was also a fond uncle and tato to many nieces and nephews.

Gianfranco loved his family more than anything and chose to spend time with them whenever possible. Italy held a special place in his heart, second only to his beloved home, and he cherished the occasions when his family joined him on trips there, including the celebration of his 60th wedding anniversary. Though he once insisted that vacations would only ever be to Italy, he joined his children and grandchildren for a beach house rental and later spoke of that trip as one of his favorites. He worked as an engineer with the same company for 42 years until his retirement. He took great pride in his elaborate garden, starting all his plants, including tomatoes, from seed in the old-school way he preferred. In his quiet moments he enjoyed daily crossword puzzles and, in later years, computer solitaire. He savored his wine, ensuring he had at least two glasses each day, and found simple joy in going out to eat with family.

Above all, Gianfranco adored Lita, his amore. He would have taken his beloved moglie with him to heaven if he could. He is remembered with deep affection by all whose lives he touched.
