Gertrude Parker ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Feb. 27, 2026.With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ms. Gertrude Elizabeth Parker of Felton, Delaware, who departed this life on February 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.Gertrude was born on June 6, 1924, in Viola, Delaware, to Anna Mae King and Joseph Franklin King.She attended Booker T. Washington School in Dover, Delaware. She worked at Green Giants in Viola, but excelled at homemaking.She loved attending worship at First Pilgrim Baptist Church in Camden, Delaware, where she was a member for more than 53 years. Over the course of her life, she served on the mothers' board, sang with the Senior Choir, and participated in the Women's Ministry. She loved praising God wherever she was. Singing brought her great joy, and she often sang her favorite song, "I Want Jesus to Walk with Me."She found simple joy in taking peaceful car rides and cherishing precious moments with family and friends. She delighted in her favorite meals-fried potatoes, collard greens, ham and cabbage, sweet potatoes, and juicy slices of watermelon-which she enjoyed with gratitude and a warm smile.Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lee Parker. Sr.; her mother, Annie Mae King; her father, Joseph Franklin King; children, Josephine Teagle, Freddie Parker, and William Parker; her sons-in-law, Wilbert Stevenson, Matthew Watkins, and Leonard Fletcher; her daughter-in-law, Ida Mae Parker; her grandchildren, Shera Angela Parker, Lillie Mae Williams, Traig Smith, Wilmer Woodlin, Tyrone Moses, Gertrude Woodlin, and Tosha Cannon; and her great-grandchild, Bryan Anthony Parker-Tunnell.She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Alberta Parker, Dorothy Belfield (Matthew), May Fletcher, Rachel Stevenson; her loving sons, Samuel Parker, Jr., and Thomas Parker (Curtistine); son-in-law, John Teagle, Sr.; a host of 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and many cousins and friends.Legacy.com reports daily on death announcements in local communities nationwide.
