Gerard M Zmijewski

December 24, 1947 February 6, 2026

Port Orchard, WA

Gerry Zmijewski was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1947, and passed away on February 6, 2026, in Port Orchard, Washington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen L. Zmijewski (1911–1989), his father, Walter V. Zmijewski (1912–1949), his brothers Kenneth W. Zmijewski (1941–1990) and Ronald J. Zmijewski (1938–2021), and his sister-in-law Mercedes (Mercy) Zmijewski (1932–2001).

A graduate of Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, in 1965, Gerry and his brothers carried the school’s emphasis on learning and clear thinking throughout their lives. All three served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, with Gerry serving as a medic. That experience shaped his later career; he became a radiologic technician after graduating from the Community College of Baltimore County at Essex in 1972. He worked as an X-ray technician at the Doctors Clinic in Bremerton until his retirement in 2014.

Gerry was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, remembered for his gentle humor, caring nature, and youthful spirit. His interests were wide-ranging, from science and economics to photography, music—especially Pink Floyd—and a lifelong passion for the Boston Bruins. A proud Baltimore native, he remained an avid fan of the Orioles, the Colts, and later the Ravens. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Towson University in 1988 and enjoyed collecting U.S. coins and foreign currency. In his younger years he loved to travel, including a memorable cross-country and Canadian road trip with friends in the fall of 1972 and later journeys to Spain and Egypt. He visited family faithfully each year. In August 2000, he moved from Baltimore to Port Orchard to share a home with his brother Ron and sister-in-law Mercy, where he remained until his passing.

He is survived by his niece Jacqueline M. Jordan (Zmijewski) and her husband Clifford D. Jordan of Bremerton, their daughter Sarah Rosario and son-in-law Ramon Rosario, and their children Caleb Jordan, Isabelle Rosario, Penelope Rosario, and great-grandson Weston Jordan; and by his nephew Ronald W. Zmijewski and his wife Kristi J. Lee-Zmijewski of Gig Harbor, their daughter Alicia M. Zmijewski of Tacoma, and their sons Corey E. Colbo and Cameron L. Colbo of Seattle.
