Geraldine "Gerri" Hill

Geraldine “Gerri” Hudgins Hill, 80, of Buncombe County, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born on August 19, 1945, she was the only daughter of the late William “Bill” Hudgins and Reva Ward Hudgins. A graduate of Erwin High School, Gerri spent her entire life in Buncombe County. She built a long career as a receptionist, most notably in local dental offices in West Asheville and Candler. With her warm smile and friendly nature, she made patients feel at ease and formed many lasting friendships. It was rare to go anywhere with her without meeting someone she knew.

Gerri cherished time with family and friends and remained deeply involved in her Sunday School class and West Asheville Baptist Church. She was always in motion, whether delivering meals or care packages to those in need, redecorating a room, or creating a new floral wreath or centerpiece. Her lasagna was legendary, her laughter infectious, and she rarely let anyone leave without a heartfelt hug.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Gerald Hill; sons Kevin Hill of Candler and Eric Hill (Melissa) of Etowah; and five grandchildren.
