Gerald William Blackwell

Gerald William Blackwell, 84, husband of Patsy Medlin Blackwell, of Seneca, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 11, 2026.

Born and raised in Newry, South Carolina, Gerald was the son of the late Victor Dewey Blackwell and Oma Hightower Blackwell. He retired from WestPoint Stevens, Clemson Plant, after 42 years of dedicated service as a machinist. A longtime member of Return Baptist Church, he found great joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events and remained a devoted Clemson football fan throughout his life. Above all, he cherished his role as a loving husband, dad, papa, pops, little papa, papa Gerald, and Clemson papa.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patsy Medlin Blackwell; daughters Sherry Henson (Alan) and Karen Gibson (Stanley); grandchildren Christina Ann Henson Marcengill (Will), Casey Lyn Henson Davis (Jeffrey), Kevin Wayne Gibson (Crystal), and Kadie Marie Gibson; and twelve beloved great-grandchildren, Kameron, Konner, Kaleb, Bella, Reagan, Madison, Ryleigh, Parker, Evie, Josiah, Jasmine, and Jaida. He is also survived by his faithful pet companion, Duke. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Harold, Ralph, Junior (Vic), Dewitt, and Christine Gibson.
